Philosophy

Our goals at 4AMR are pretty simple:

  • we want to work with some great "undiscovered" artists, help them make some great recordings, and gain them some new exposure in the Chicago area;
  • we're aiming towards pop/rock, alt/pop, and acoustic sounds;
  • we lean towards more politically progressive or "left-of-center" acts (think anything from The Clash to Tracy Chapman);
  • we want to work with people we like and support completely; and
  • we're not serious, but take our artists seriously.

If this sounds good to you, maybe you should get in touch.

Submissions

4AM Records is currently accepting submissions from acts and artists that sync up with our basic outline, as laid out above. We will accept your submissions in two forms: (1) CDs via our mailing address (please note that materials cannot be returned), or (2) MP3 files via email to submissions@4amrecords.com. Please be sure to attach any needed contact information so that we can get back to you if we think we should talk.

We will be focusing in 2006 and 2007 on developing acts via demo and EP deals, and are eager to get to know, work with and support promising acts.

Internships

As a brand new indy label, there is no better place to gain some real experience and see the record business in Chicago than 4AMR. If are interested in interning, please email us with the following:

  • your resume, complete with a description of any applicable prior experience;
  • your objectives for the internship (i.e., what you hope to get out of it);
  • your musical tastes and influences; and
  • your willingness to serve on the 4AMR Street Team.

Again, we apologize that we may not be able to respond to everyone personally.
